If you’re curious about the details of why I chose this path, here’s a little more detail that explains it better.
What is this project about?
I’m an indie creator. After years of working in corporate environments as always being busy, always chasing deadlines, I made a decision to shut everything down and never work for anyone else again. I decided it was time for a new title. Now, I create on my own terms.
What exactly is an indie creator?
An indie creator is an independent creator, someone who builds or makes things without relying on a company, employer or outside direction. It’s about owning the creative process entirely, from concept to execution.
Is this the same as being an indie developer?
Yes and no. Indie development is part of it, but being an indie creator isn’t limited to code or software. My goal is to make things that come entirely from me, without clients or bosses shaping the outcome. That could be apps, writing, music, books or anything I feel inspired to bring to life.
Why did you choose this path?
Because after years of running on someone else’s schedule, solving someone else’s problems and building someone else’s vision, I wanted to dedicate that same energy to my own ideas. For me, independence isn’t just freedom, it’s rediscovering creativity in its purest form.
What kind of projects will you be working on?
I’m keeping it open-ended. Right now, I’m exploring different mediums: software, writing, maybe even music. The common theme is simple, whatever I create will be something I genuinely care about, not just something that pays the bills.
Will you collaborate with others?
Maybe, but only if it feels right. The point of this shift is to move away from creating under someone else’s direction. If a collaboration sparks creativity rather than limits it, I’d be open to it.
What’s the purpose of this?
The real goal is discovery. I want to see what I can create purely on my own, without clients, bosses or outside expectations. It’s not just about making things, but about proving to myself that I can.
How about money?
Money isn’t the driving force here. I’ve structured my life to keep expenses low so that I don’t need to make creative choices under financial pressure. This gives me space to explore, experiment and see what I’m capable of.
That said, I’m not ignoring money completely. If something I create turns into income, that’s welcome but I’m not chasing profit. Any financial outcomes will be a byproduct of genuine creativity, not the reason behind it.
Will you be sharing your journey?
Yes. And to be honest, that’s a little scary for me. I’ve been an introvert for years -Well, I still am- but I want to push myself to be more open. I’ll be sharing on my blog, Instagram and YouTube, not because I expect a huge audience, but because putting my work out there keeps me motivated and may help me connect with others.
Of course, there’s always the doubt: What if this doesn’t work? What if nobody cares? That might happen and that’s okay. I’m not doing this for validation. I’m doing it to see what I’m capable of. At the very least, sharing will be a record of what I tried, what I learned, and how I grew. And if even one person finds value in it, that’s a win.
What this is not?
This is not a business venture. I’m not chasing profit, building a startup or planning a growth strategy. Success here isn’t measured in numbers but in creativity, independence and following through on ideas that matter to me.
It’s also not about seeking validation. I know some of what I create might go unnoticed and that’s fine. Sharing is more about accountability and keeping myself open to new ideas than about approval.
And finally, this isn’t an attempt to avoid work. It's quite the opposite. I want to push myself, to see what I can build without the structure of a traditional job. This is about taking ownership of my creative process. No deadlines, no external expectations, just me and whatever I choose to make. Whether it succeeds, fails or becomes something unexpected, it will be entirely mine.
Don't do anything you don't want to do. Not easy but simple!
